This week at Emali we combined Drama and Music! We worked on some musical songs and use used inanimate objects and animals to further express our emotions and thoughts. We introduced the idea of 'characters' and thought about what characteristics distinguish 'good' from 'bad'.
This week we heard from actress and singer Kristin Chenoweth and a myriad of stage songs. Our words of the week are 'big' and 'small' which we are used to guage gestures of characters and movements.
To take this lesson home, play with facial expressions and movement, as well as discussing emotions and how they may present differently from person to person.
This is once again an excellent tool in teaching compassion, children have been learning to put themselves 'in the shoes' of another person or thing, and have learnt the power of facial and physical expressions.
